Willie Roopchan holds an upper second-class honors degree in quantity surveying awarded by the Council for National Awards in London England and is a professional associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He qualified as a quantity surveyor in 1980 and was awarded chartered surveyor status in 1983. He has over forty-five years’ experience in his field, forty-one of which are at the chartered surveyor status.
He has practiced quantity surveying in London where he understudied an internationally recognized construction claims consultant in the preparation and defense of construction claims. He has provided quantity surveying consultancy to a variety of clientele primarily in Trinidad and Guyana and to a lesser extent in Grenada and St Lucia. He is the sole principal of the WR Partnership Chartered Quantity Surveyors which he co-founded in 1986 and which was formally registered as a sole proprietorship in 1998.
Some of his major projects include the Caricom Secretariat Headquarters in Guyana, the Headquarters for the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, the Process Buildings at the LNG Plant, the Concrete Civil Works for trains 1,2,3 and 4 at the LNG Plant, Sporting Facilities at Irwin Park and Administrative and Medical Complexes for the Southern Medical Clinic. He has provided consultancy services to Contractors in construction claims management and to Employers in dispute avoidance. He has completed over 3,000 mortgage evaluation reports for determining mortgage loans by various financial institutions in Trinidad and Tobago.
